During the school year, there are at least two times every weekday when there are lots of children on or very near, roads and streets: when the school buses are running. During these times, drivers are encouraged to exercise extra caution. Children can be completely concealed by parked cars, and just suddenly appear in the traffic lane. Children can become distracted and forget to ‘look both ways’ before crossing. Children will sometimes become involved in a game or activity and actually run into a traffic lane. When you’re driving during the school year, slow down a bit and keep an extra sharp eye out for our children.
